Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today asked the officials to accord focus on the construction of multi-lane roads in the state keeping in mind the requirements of the next 15 years.
Chairing the meeting of the second governing council of Jharkhand State Highway Authority here he asked the body to clearly make its financial and organisational structure and instructed to immediately send the officials to study the rules and provisions of a similar type of authorities which are functional in other months. He said that at the end of the month a meeting of the authority should be held in which the entire matter should be kept in details. He asked the officials to keep in account the availability of the funds for construction of the roads and asked to classify the roads on the basis of load of traffic on them and said that roads with more traffic load can be easily taken up on PPP mode and also consider all possible options mentioned in the budget for construction of the
roads.
The Chief Minister also asked to accord priority to road safety and said that milestone should be very clearly erected at the roadside and on the milestone the distance to the next destination and also the distance to other far off places. He said that due to multi laneing
such should be the description so that it can be easily read at night. He asked that monitoring should also be done to ensure that highway patrolling is done along with that on regular distance there should be a provision of ambulances and black spots should also be identified. He said that on the road display it should be ensured that distance to the next ambulance trauma centres and distance to the next petrol pump should be mentioned.
Those present in the meeting also included Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi Additional Chief Secretary Sukdeo Singh and Secretary Road Construction KK Soan.
