Dumka: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced that a commission forthe tribals in the state would be formed. Addressing the Santhal Pargana Division meet of the gram pradhan and traditional heads he said that it was late Atal Bihari Vajpayee would had included the Santhal language in the 8th schedule of the constitution. He said that in the last 70 years no major steps were taken for the improvement of the conditions of the tribals of the area instead they were always misled and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working dedicatedly for development and enrichment of the tribal culture and their heritage.
Mr Das said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister even the state government was making dedicated efforts for the development of the tribal community who has finally awaken to the importance of development. He said that in the next budget the government will announce the formation of the commission in which apart from the chairman and vice chairman there would be one representative from every division of the state.
Mr Das said that the commission would be monitoring the development being taken in the community and in the new year this would be a gift for the tribals of the state. He recalled the contribution of the great martyrs hailing from the tribal community in the nation’s struggle for independence however the government which came into power never worried about them. He said that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who recalled their contribution from the Red Fort and sanctioned a sum of Rs 25 crore which is being used for beautification of the Birsa Munda Jail.
He urged the people present on the occasion to hand over the soil from the villages of the martyrs by January 9 so that on the occasion of Netaji’s birthday on January 23 they can be used in making the statues of the martyrs. In his message to the traditional heads he said that some anti national forces were trying to break the culture and languages of the community and said that present religious conversions was being used to hamper the culture of the community for which the state government has come with strict laws for anti conversions and those indulging in such acts would not be saved.
